Heavy load and vibration
The balancing shaft is designed to reduce vibration, especially in four-cylinder engines. Due to the asymmetry of the design, the engine has inherent two-order vibration, which cannot be eliminated no matter how to balance the internal components.
The crankshaft is designed to convert the up and down motion of the piston into horizontal rotation. The load can be very heavy, especially in diesel or turbocharged engines.
