THK was founded in 1971 in Meguro-ku, Tokyo, and was originally named Toho Seiko Co., Ltd. The company's name "THK" stands for "Toughness," "High Quality," and "Know-how." Our goal is to promote social progress and industry development by following these three principles in technology development and product manufacturing. The moving parts of the machine can be divided into rolling elements, linear moving parts or a combination of both. With the development of rolling bearings about 110 years ago, rolling contact became the standard method of achieving rolling motion. A great technological revolution was followed. Rolling contact not only saves kinetic energy, but also keeps the frictional resistance to a minimum, thus greatly improving the performance of the machine. However, although the value of such developments in the field of linear motion may be ten times higher than this, the technique of achieving linear motion through rolling contact can be considered too late. Through its own unique technical strength, THK solved the problem of rolling contact linear motion that was once considered difficult to solve, and in 1972 became the first company in the world to develop and commercialize linear motion (LM) rails. And began to manufacture and sell commercial results: linear motion (LM) rails. A company that makes rails and commercializes them. Use our linear motion system to quickly improve the accuracy and speed of advanced electromechanical instruments and save manpower. THK's LM Guides enable ultra-high precision operation of machine tools and industrial robots, as well as enabling semiconductor manufacturing equipment to operate in submicron devices. Recently, the system has also been applied to liquid crystal production lines, railway passenger cars, disabled assisted vehicles, medical equipment, skyscrapers and residences, and recreational facilities. The range of use of the LM Guide has broken through all previous restrictions. THK's R&D department was established based on the technology center established in Tokyo in 2005, and has R&D facilities in Yamanashi, Yamaguchi, and Yamagata, Japan. A total of approximately 150 employees are engaged in research and development. The engineering and development department has played a central role in the product development process. The development system of the THK project has brought product development to an unprecedentedly high speed. Organizations such as the business development department have also been formed to help with product development and new areas. Since 2005, the THK Technology Center has slogan “Make people-oriented products”. Under the guidance of major ideas such as “massive”, “micro-manufacturing” and “mechanical shock absorption”, we will actively develop next-generation products that meet the market needs of the next five to ten years, including those that customers have not yet recognized. . THK will also expand its product lineup to meet the current needs of its customers. In addition, while continuing to improve and develop global manufacturing and sales systems, THK will also develop product development systems in the right regions, including the US, Europe and Asia, to respond more effectively to customer needs.
