NSK successfully developed ＂high-efficiency motor bearings＂

Nippon Seiko Co., Ltd. has successfully developed a bearing that can effectively reduce the power consumption of industrial motors (40% of the world's power consumption, industrial motor power consumption). The product is currently on the market and is expected to reach sales of 4.5 billion yen in 2025.

 

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection around the world, all industries are promoting carbon dioxide emission reduction and power conservation. In particular, industrial motors that provide driving power to pumps, blowers, and compressors account for more than 40% of the world's total electricity consumption. In response to these demands, countries around the world have developed regulations to improve the performance of industrial motors.

 

Although the friction loss of the bearing is only about 1% of the total energy consumption of the motor, it is still expected to further reduce the energy consumption due to the high total power consumption of the industrial motor. In order to meet the needs of society, NSK continues to promote new product development.

 

1. Reduce energy consumption

Thanks to the special grease developed by NSK and optimized grease sealing, the frictional resistance of the grease can be reduced during the operation of the bearing, which in turn reduces the friction loss by 60%. In addition, the use of a resin cage further reduces friction losses (up to 80%).

 

2. Extend life

By using the special grease developed by NSK, compared with the past products, the bearing wear can effectively suppress the wear inside the bearing, thereby improving the bearing life (2.7 times or more).
