The rolling system of the spiral roller bearing uses a spiral roller wound with a steel strip. Therefore, it is called a spiral roller bearing. This type of bearing has large elasticity and radial clearance, can withstand large impact radial load, can not bear axial load, and has low limit speed. It is only suitable for parts that have low rotation accuracy and often have a large impact load. The bearing is mounted with a 0.5° inclination of the inner ring axis and the outer ring axis. Due to the elastic deformation of this type of bearing, precision cannot be guaranteed during operation, so the accuracy of the helical roller bearing is only one of the ordinary grades, and there is no other precision grade.

Spiral roller bearing characteristics

The inner and outer rings of the bearing are rolled from alloy steel strips and assembled by special processing. The spiral gap on the inner and outer ring surfaces of the bearing enables the lubricating oil to continuously and evenly spread over the bearing working surface. The bearing works under the working conditions with large temperature difference, and the bearing fit size can be automatically compensated.

Spiral roller bearing use

Spiral roller bearings are more suitable for large steel mills.

Spiral roller bearing process

The inner and outer rings of the bearing are rolled from alloy steel strips and assembled by special processing. The spiral gap on the inner and outer ring surfaces of the bearing enables the lubricating oil to continuously and evenly spread over the bearing working surface. The bearing works under the working conditions with large temperature difference, and the bearing fit size can be automatically compensated. P&N is principally engaged in the design and production of bearings for sheet-oriented rolls, and the bearing design required for each part of the curved casting machine. P&N offers all these different bearing designs.

Spiral roller bearing advantages

A) These bearings are made of spring steel. The annealing temperature of the spring steel is 3500C. Therefore, it is inferior in temperature sensitivity to ball bearing steel (100C6) having an annealing temperature of 1800C. The material will lose its hardness extremely when the temperature reaches above the tempering temperature. Therefore, spring steel is more suitable for high temperature operation.

B) Spring steel has good elasticity and is therefore easy to install. The inner ring can be mounted in any position by means of two hook wrenches, and the inner tension of the inner ring can be fastened to the shaft. It is relatively easy to machine an inner ring with an elastic material with a tolerance of h9 or h1l.

C) Such bearings are durable and have little effect from dirt, iron filings, water and weak acid formed by falling iron powder and water. The thin-walled spiral ring leaves a large space for the large-diameter rolling parts. These components are capable of rolling the waste and foreign matter into the spiral gap of the spiral by rolling. This keeps the moving surface of the bearing clean while rotating.

D) The main advantage of the helical bearing is that the outer ring can be reused multiple times, which makes it possible to rework it once it is damaged and bent due to temperature. In this case, the bearing housing also needs to be adjusted. This structural design requires only the spiral outer ring rather than the entire set of bearings to be changed, and all remaining bearing components can be reused.

The adjustment of the bearing housing is carried out by increasing the diameter dimension by 1 mm. For example, when the inner diameter is increased from 105mm to 106mm, the outer diameter of the spiral outer ring also needs to be increased by 1mm for installation. This can be repeated until the diameter reaches 110 mm. This allows the bearing outer ring to be machined 5 times. This can result in substantial cost savings, especially if all other bearing components can be reused 6 times.
