The SKF SNL housing is a SKF brand bearing, model number SNL seat.

The design of the SKF SNL housing is mainly used for applications where the load acts perpendicularly on the bearing surface. In this case, the load that the bearing housing can withstand is completely dependent on the bearing capacity of the bearing. If the load is acting in the other direction, the bearing housing, the bolts that connect the housing top cover and the base, and the bearing capacity of the ground joint bolts must be inspected. SNL housings are typically made of grey cast iron. If higher strength cast iron is required in some applications, it can be made of ductile iron and have the same size bearing housing. Housings made of ductile iron are available in two designs: with four coupling bolt holes (FSNLD type) and with no coupling bolt holes (SSNLD type).

Characteristics

SKF SNL housing modular system

The SNL housings are available in a range of housing sizes with the same design, and are used with a wide range of standard seals for different operating conditions and environments. SNL housings are suitable for applications with shaft diameters between 20 and 160 mm.

SKF has a variety of standard seals for SNL housings:

TSN..G double lip seal for circumferential speeds of 8 m/s or less and operating temperatures between -40 and +100 °C

TSN..A V-ring seal for circumferential speeds of 7 m/s or less, in special cases up to 12 m/s, operating temperature between -40 and +100 °C

TSN..S labyrinth seal, no circumferential speed limit, working temperature between -50 and +200 °C

TSN..ND Taconite seal for circumferential speeds of 12 m/s or less and operating temperatures between -40 and +100 °C.

All of the above seals are interchangeable in size (relative to SNL housings) and can be used without any machining or modification.

If the housing is mounted on the end of the shaft, an ASNH housing end cap can be used.

SNL bearing seat is divided into those series

The stand-up SNL plummer block housings are available in the SNL200, SNL500, SNL300, and SNL600 series, the most popular in the wide range of housings. Due to their versatility, it is rarely necessary to use custom housings for specific applications. The housing is horizontally split and there are two or four connecting bolt holes on the base.
